About Us
Our mission
Salt City Soup Co. is the place to go for scratch-made soups and homemade sandwiches that will warm your soul throughout the year.
Our vision
We are a locally-owned and operated restaurant which provides a specific need to the people of Syracuse. We want to be a part of the fabric of this city and its food scene for years to come. However, we also believe everyone deserves the experience of quality, affordable soup and sandwiches, in a friendly environment. Therefore, expanding the concept into other Central New York cities which share similar climates is always on our minds.
Our ownerTim Tschernjawski
After living in Boston for three and a half years post college, he decided to move back home to Syracuse and pursue a career in the restaurant business. His passion for soups and sandwiches started when he was hired as a fry cook at Kitty Hoynes Irish Pub and Restaurant.
After quickly ascending to Sous Chef, a title he held for three years, he became adept at making daily lunch specials which always included a soup du jour and a hot sandwich. It was in this role where he honed his skills and thrived at making something that the people of Syracuse wanted to eat. These skills were also on display when he left Kitty Hoynes and took a similar role at the Sherwood Inn.
After realizing fine dining was not his cup of tea, he took a position at a QSR called Original Grain. As Kitchen Manager, he has helped run the day to day operations of the restaurant as well as provide support to its second location in Rochester.
